In "The Self-Checkout Lane," a teen-aged grocery-store cashier unexpectedly bonds with his boss, an overbearing assistant manager. As a content warning, the catalyst for the bonding between the two characters is a dead newborn, discovered by the teenager while collecting carts outside at the back of the store.
